Working in collaboration with Douglas and King Architects, we submitted an application for the redevelopment of a site occupied by a high street restaurant and ancillary accommodation. The proposed development was for a replacement A3 unit together with three two-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom apartment. The proposed massing was very close to a neighbouring property and the planning authority raised concerns about the impact on the occupier of that property in terms of loss of privacy and of outlook. We negotiated amendments to the scheme to address these concerns while safeguarding the viability of the scheme. Planning permission was subsequently granted.
